OK as I said in my last post about the Darksiders Demo I went out and bought the game the same day. I can let you know that the demo does not do the game justice. The first level of the game would have been far better or at least the first parts of the first level would have been in my opinion. Then again it did enough to get me to go and buy it!
The story is what really captures the game I really like the way the new characters you meet have a reason for being there. Each new creature you encounter also being new moves and new finishing moves to get the souls from them which is great as seeing the same moves all the time gets boring.
I just like this game as it brings something different to my usual games I play, form now on I think I will be looking more into RPG games as they are easy to get into and easy to pick and put down when I get the time.

I have gone demo mad over the last few days but it has been fun trying out some games that I would not necessarily play.
Darksiders is a great RPG game with no fuss. God of War is a game with extra features to activate certain fight scenes for different characters as you fight them but Darksiders is a no nonsense game that delivers a nice story and visual effects. I played this demo and enjoyed it so much I went out and bought it, the same day.
What I liked about this game as that you could simply pick up the pad and get on with the game. I liked the fact you had a helper at times and the demon who cold trade or let you buy things from him.
I also liked the little features in the game where you have to drag a block or shoot a fireball bomb at something to find extra things, a bit Tombraider thrown in for good measure.
I can see why the play us magazine gave the game a 10/10 as it is just so easy to pick up and play. It is good fun trying to find different items and doorways plus the creatures are fun to figure out how to defeat them. The story bring the whole thing together so you know why you are playing the game and to what you need to do.
The controls and movement are much better than God of War, where as in GOD of War the camera was sometimes set in Darksiders you have full control to look around and search the area.
Right from the beginning after the cut scene explaining the story you are thrown into a city to fight some creatures. Climbing and jumping around some building you eventually come up against a giant creature. I just liked the fact it put you right into the game, no messing around.
Throwing cars is also fun

Another demo that caught my eye that I was very glad I tried was Just Cause 2.
If you were a fan of Grand Theft Auto and fight with the cops causing havoc then this game is for you as it takes it to another level.
I was just browsing the Playstation store and the cover of this intreaged me enough to downlaod it.
You start off in a deserted area where you learn how to use your weapons, run about a bit and use your rope to grab things or use it to climb up buildings.
Once you start to collect some weaponry and start shooitn things you soon find out that this is what the game is about. Reaking havoc on everything you find. There is an abundance of barrels that you can shoot to explode and blow up buildings and other objects.
When you get the hang of this and you get 100% of that area you then get to move onto other areas where you have to target building that have star on.
What I liekd was i could jump off the top of the hill and ue my parachuteto glide down to the next destination. This was also good to know later to get away from enemies that you encounter.
As soon as you begin to shoot people or begin blowing up anything else now the game starts to get going. Just like GTA you set of an alert and there are different heat levels, the more havoc you bring upon the area the higher the alert and the more people you haev after you. Enemies drive afer you shooting and bombing you with grenades. You are able to jump into jeeps and other vehicles to get away or use them to run over your enemies.
I can see this game being a lot of fun discovering what vehicles you can use and how much trouble you can get yourself into.

I had seen a few adverts for this and decided to download the demo and take a look at the God of war 3 demo. I didn’t know but this game is only available on the PS3.
This is a classic button bashing game but with some very cool twists. At first you are launched into battle with some undead skeletons and you literally bash your way up the slope to where you are confronted by some large gates. after collecting some health and some more fighting you come across some larger creatures to fight.
What I liked was when you are fighting the larger creatures you also get glowing buttons to press above the creatures by pressing the corrct buttons at the right time it triggers different fight moves which are very gruesome and warrant the 18 basge on the box, but they do look pretty good with the graphics showing off to their full effect.
I also liked th occasional 3d platform style by shooting and hooking a flying creature you can get across large gaps. This took me a second or two to get used to but once I did it was easy enough to swtiche3 to other flying creatures mid air to reach your destination.
Toward the end of the demo you encounter the guy you are trying to destroy which without reading the full story on the God of war 3 website I gather is a god or something to that effect. When you get to him you he defended very well but then large bear creature attacks you. This was quite good as you use the creature to fight off the rest of the defenders.
Right at the end of the demo you get to experience flying as you escape up a what I can only describe as a giant chimney which you have to avoid falling debris.
The sound effects were OK with him fighting and the background music kept the heart going as you ran around.
I would normally not go for a game like this but I am very tempted to try this out and go and buy it. It has some very good effects and I like the different ideas they have come up with to make the game unique.
I recommend you at least trying the demo out.

Finally got the chance to try the demo of Heavy Rain. It was a bit different than I thought it would be but I was pleasantly suprised.
It starts of with lots of… Heavy Rain, what a surprise. A car pulls up and you meet your first character and get to interact with the game immediately. At first the graphics looked shockingly bad but then suddenly the face of the main character was in focus and the graphics were extremely good.
It took a bit of getting used to as I had to get my gaming head off and just try not to think too much, a game definitely for those wanting to pretty much be told a story.
I wish the demo had a bit more in it though as it let me control a couple of different characters and then the demo was over. All a bit quick if you ask me.
The controls were OK but as you have to press buttons at certain times Id found myself not really watching what was going on but just watching what button to press which took mea way fro what was happening.
The fight scene was good fun but more so watching the action and not the interaction as you either watched the buttons or watched the scen unravel or at least that was how i felt when i was playing it,
At times I was also wondering what I should be doing next as the buttons would be telling you what to do then all of a sudden i felt i was elft in the lurch not knowing i fi should be moving or not. I am sure some of this would become second nature as you get into the game.
I liked the story with each character and it had some nice touches like the glasses of the second character but i wanted more. I would consider renting this game but i doubt if i would buy it.

Is it me or is the Playstation Network very very slow? I and many of my friends have tried to watch a video from the store which you can rent videos form but it is so slow you have to wait hours to download it it. Yet on the XBOX it streams and it totally watchable.

It is generally accepted worldwide, even by EA, that the 2008 entry in the FIFA series of games fell short of expectations. EA have noticeably taken this information on board to produce one of the best football games that money can buy. EA even appear to have been exceptionally receptive to their fans listening to criticism and feedback from many fans, forums, and critics.
Gameplay Enhancements
The gameplay throughout the complete range of FIFA games has always been good, there`s no doubt about that. EA have therefore employed the idea of `if it`s not broke then don`t fix it` and have only made minor tweaks rather than revamping all of the individual gameplay ingredients. The balanced approach between the two key elements, speed and physicality, seems to have been honed to perfection. This provides a much more realistic gaming experience on the field, more akin with a natural game of football. This leads to more fluid build-up and allows greater strategic plays to finally work.
Custom Tactics
EA have launched into the latest FIFA offering with an excellent new feature enabling full customisation of the in game tactics. All games these days allow you to manually specify certain tactics templates producing quick break chances, offside trap positioning or a more defensive mode for the more conservative of player.
However, EA have now provided the opportunity to specify player aggressiveness when going for the ball. Slider bars can be set to dictate the `enthusiasm` that your players display when going in for tackles which has certainly been a missing factor in most of the games in the market today. 50/50 challenges have just got much more interesting!
Accurate Physics
Physics you say? Well, now that EA are paying more attention to the finer points of their games they have decided to include accurate physics in terms of players` vital statistics. Never before have weight and bulk of players come into the game so much. This is especially evident when defending. The strength difference between players can easily be seen now providing a much more realistic experience. Just beware that with strength comes the inherent speed restrictions so don`t go chucking you your heaviest lump straight in at centreback as you`ll soon be watching the nippy strikers go streaking past you into the box!
The physics doesn`t stop there though, EA have made a concerted effort to make the ball behaviour seem even more realistic than ever. This is especially noticeable when bouncing off different parts of the body and the speed at which impact occurs.
Overall Gaming Experience
The overall experience has been increased thanks to many new environmental enhancements including some fantastic new camera angles. It`s amazing how different the game seems by simply varying the viewing angle once in a while. Such a small change actually creates a completely new game increasing the lifecycle of the game no end.
EA have made such an excellent attempt to plug the holes in the previous versions of the game and have achieved a much smoother, more complete experience. Is it finally time for FIFA to regain its rightful place at the top of the football simulation games? If you`re trying to figure out what video games to spend your hard earned cash on then this one should be at the top of your list.

One game i wish was on the XBOX is Warhawk. It is a MMRPG ( it think i got that right) which basically means that there are lots of people playing the game at the same time. At most ive seen games with 32 Vs 32 which is a huge game with so much going on you really have to be on the ball to get any points.
What i really like about Warhawk is that every time you play it, it is different.
Maybe you don’t fancy running around much so you can find a missile launcher station and just sit in it and shoot down planes, it is great fun if there are lots of planes about.
If that isn’t your cup of tea maybe you would like to jump in a plan and have a dog fight with the other planes, or maybe you want to drive around in a tank blowing up others. This game just about has something for everyone including the sniper rifle which can be so much fun.

In this edition of Fifa they have also brought in a few new features like the Pro soccer game mode where you can be a player in a team just like you were playing for a team on a saturday. There is a training feature to get you used to playing in this mode as it is totally new and you need to get the best out of it before you venture online.
I started off being a forward player but soon wanted more of the action so i’ve now started playing as a midfielder. you have to have total concentration as you move around working plays and making runs just like you would in a real match. i am yet to score but it is really good fun.

Would i buy it?
The answer is a yes but then again i wold probably buy Pro Evolution Soccer as well. Which one would you choose?
At the moment the verdict is still out i am playing both FIFA and PES to se which one i prefer. what i have found is that on the PS3 Fifa is very slow and the passing can be a bit annoying. This is one time i like the XBOX more as the game is so much better. I hope it is just the demo!
